If I owned Texas and Hell, I would rent out Texas and live in Hell --Philip Sheridan

I was living in New Jersey and had gone to visit my family back in Texas, and I managed to find some time between visiting to get a little lost. With my Sis as an accomplice, we shot pics of some very amazing places... here is a little sneak preview of some of the stuff we found on our explorations of the desolate desert wastelands surrounding the city we were born in- there will be lots more to come, as we got a whole bunch of pics... above: a rustic old fence still winds around the empty jail

Above: a crumbling, ancient adobe ruin that my Sis and I stumbled across in desolate Socorro... the charred husk of an empty, burned out old mansion in historic downtown El Paso... the mysterious 'Airplane Graveyard', where the eerie husks of countless abandoned planes shine mutely in the sunlight... the forgotten old Indios Trading Post, in historically the rich area of San Elizario...

...San Elizario is home to some of the oldest missions in the United States, such as the Presidio Chapel San Elearcio, pictures above, left, and also the famous old San Elizario jail, pictures above, right, from which Billy The Kid once helped a prisoner escape!

Above: a gallery of El Paso's reputed ghostly spots... The first "haunted house" I ever heard about as a child... An oddly forbidding house that has layers and layers of barricading fence and chain barring the front door... The infamously haunted El Paso High School... A barren, forbidding Southside ruin where several people have lost their lives to gang violence.

My Sis and I had a groovy time prowling the dusty byways and beaten paths of our old Southwestern stomping grounds... searching for the weird and the lost...
