Old Holmdel Yard, Holmdel, New Jersey

explored & photographed by: Shady

Old Holmdel Yard, Route 520 in Holmdel... an ancient little graveyard stands vigil alongside a shaded country road...

Along this winding road... the lonely lay mostly forgotten...

The stones are falling over and cracked. But a new sign graces the front of the yard, near the eerily crooked tree. Seems to have been preserved by the local community... a wonderful example of what can be preserved through the actions of a neighborhood. You can feel the history in this place.... some of the stones are even surrounded by trees.

One solemn horse watches over those who rest here. A makeshift sign warns to beware of our hooven friend, but he seems more like a guardian angel to guide those long passed on.
